Here is a cute pic of Simon with our baby….
Bus Pass Drama!
A couple of weeks ago, my Mother mentioned to me that she would be applying for her free bus pass as she was turning 60 soon (today actually! Happy Birthday Mummy!!). Anyway, when she read the forms she noticed that people under 60 with certain medical conditions could also apply. Being partially sighted was one of the conditions mentioned and as I only have one eye I thought I would give it a go and see if I was eligible.
The first thing I needed to do was to contact my doctor to get written confirmation that I was indeed partially sighted. After contacting him last week, my doctor told me that he would leave me a letter to collect for the middle of this week. After much drama, confusion and stupidity from the nice people in the doctor’s surgery reception, I finally picked up my letter this afternoon! I can now proceed with my application for the bus pass as he has confirmed that I am indeed partially sighted and he is supporting my application!
So watch out, me and my mother will be coming soon to a bus route near you! Beware!
I think I hate milk!
I thought I would blog about something that myself and Simon have discussed in length ever since we met, something that is a little bit weird. Let me go back in time 29 years, I am six years old and the teacher is giving out the lovely cold bottles of milk for everyone. My best friend Samantha is sat next to me and says “milk is horrible, I hate it” or something along those lines. Now up until that moment we had both always looked forward to “milk time” and I have no idea why she said what she did, but ever since that moment I have not touched a drop.
I can happily enjoy yoghurt, ice cream, custard or anything like that but I can’t drink milk, milkshakes or pretty much anything with the word “milk” in it. Breakfast time is fun in our house because we will always talk about my weird milky problems when I am preparing my cereal. I love cereal but because I won’t drink milk I tip orange cordial/juice over it. I did try coke and even beer once but they were gross because the cereal started to fizz! I have been eating cereal this way since the age of six so to me it is very normal, but I am yet to meet anyone who agrees that it is acceptable behaviour! We put fruit on our cereal, so why not fruit juice?
But isn’t this all a bit weird? I don’t get why I am like this, from what I remember my friend carried on drinking milk and probably now doesn’t even remember saying what she did! It just goes to show, you should never listen to anything your friends tell you, friends ruin your life!
Thanks for reading about my weirdness!
Eye got my new I today!
After 18 months of waiting, quite patiently might I add, I have finally recieved my brand spanking new artificial eye. It was quite a long process from the referral in September 2006, the making of the mold in April 2007, the work on the positioning and colouring in January this year and finally the fitting today at Lincoln County Hospital! I was feeling quite excited/anxious about it because I had got so used to the eye that I had worn since 1985 I was convinced that any other eye would look weird, but on the other hand I knew that a new eye would have to be an improvement as my old eye was in poor condition. I took my fan club along with me (Simon and my Mum) so that they could give an honest opinion at the fitting in case it turned out to look silly! As soon as they both saw it though, they agreed that it was a great match with my good eye and when I saw a mirror I had to agree.
Here is a pic of my good eye on the left, followed by my old eye and then my new eye on the right.
It still feels a little bit strange a few hours after first wearing it, but that is to be expected because of the difference in size. When you put the new one next to the old one it is so much bigger and also a very different shape! I couldn’t wait to get home so I could whip it out and have a good look at it and figure out which way it goes back in! Anyway, I am pretty damn pleased with it and so grateful to everyone involved in making me this new eye, especially the lady I saw who matched my eye colour perfectly, she is a very talented person!

Earthquake!
About one hour and twenty minutes ago I woke up in the middle of an earthquake which ended up being 5.3 on the Richter Scale. I can honestly say I have never woken up so frightened, I had no idea what was happening! Simon and I were both sound asleep as it was almost 1am and we woke up to our dog freaking out on the bed and a very loud rumbling. Lucy came running to us and we held her and that’s when we realised the bed was moving! The room was very dark so it was all very confusing so we were glad when everything went quiet a few seconds later.
I heard voices outside so I stood on the bed and opened the attic window to hear what people were saying and they sounded freaked out too. They were talking about the “shaking” so I knew I hadn’t dreamt it! We put the TV on in the bedroom and at about twenty past one the news reports started coming in about the earthquake. Apparently the epicentre was only a few miles from our house, and we are still pretty “shaken” by it
Anyway, now we can’t sleep and have got up so I’m gonna play me some World of Warcraft! Thanks for reading ![]()
DING!
It’s finally happened, six weeks or so after creating Olyk he is now level 70! And to make it so much cooler, Simon’s character Twigleaf actually dinged level 70 at exactly the same time! This is my first level 70 peep on this server, I already had one on another server from several months ago
As I write this post Olyk is flying to Terokkar so that he can wander through to Shadowmoon Valley to buy his Flying Mount! Anyway, gotta go now and do exciting level 70 stuff! Woooo Olyk can fly!
Here is a pic of the special moment when we both dinged level 70!!!11!!1!eleventyone!1!!
Finally, Olyk is “leet”!
Something amazing happened today in World of Warcraft. Olyk, my level 67 Shaman, was busy in Alterac Valley trying to kick arse when all of a sudden he got his first kill and I noticed that it was kill number 1337! So Gratz Olyk, you really are a star! To make it even more special, Alliance won and because Alterac Valley was today’s PvP daily quest, I got extra honour and three marks! And here is a picture to prove the amazing events from just a few minutes ago!
I just thought I would post a Christmas message for all my readers. I hope you all have a great time and a happy new year! Now, here is the cutest picture ever of Lucy with Santa!

Yep, it’s the day before Christmas Eve. I woke up this morning at 7.47am and my first thought was of large planes. My next thought was that Lucy was standing on me and telling me that it was time to get up and take her out for walkies! I have had pretty severe toothache for a couple of days now and this morning it didn’t feel too bad. (Fingers crossed that it will ease for a few days as I can’t get to a dentist til after Xmas now). Anyhoo, me and Lulu got all ready and went off for our usual walkies along the River Trent. This morning there had been a big frost and everywhere was misty. One day I will actually remember to take my camera along with me and then I can post a pic too!
I am actually looking forward to Christmas this year, I have some cool presents to open! I am getting Dance Stage Universe for the Xbox360. So next time I post here I will have probably broken my leg or injured myself somehow from jumping around on my dance mat! I also have a cool DVD that I have been dying to get my hands on! “Scully” was a seven part series shown back in 1984-ish. It was about a kid who supports Liverpool FC and ends up playing for them, I can’t wait to see it again because I was 11 when I last watched it! I also have a new chair that I am currently sat on, I had been getting back ache from the old one! I found out last night that Lucy hates to be spun around, she was sat in my new chair and I started to turn it but she started running around the opposite way! She was freaking out so I had to stop!
Anyway, I have been awake now for one hour and thirteen minutes so it’s probably about time I played World of Warcraft! I can’t think of much else to say anyway apart from how great Liverpool were yesterday! We won 4-1 at home to Portsmouth and everyone played so well. I watched the match live and thought Torres put in yet another solid performance. Two more goals for him, one for Yossi and a comical own goal from Distin gave us the three points that we really needed.
Anyway, thanks for reading! Merry Christmas everyone!
Today we did our usual “Coffee Tuesday” with my Mother in town, only we went somewhere different for once for our coffee. We went in Canute for the first time and it’s really nice! Last week we has found the staff in Wetherspoon’s to be displaying a new higher level of rudeness so we decided to teach them a lesson by going somewhere different! I think we may have found a new permanent venue for Coffee Tuesday! Yay!
Anyway, so we are walking around doing our bits of shopping and stuff and we went in B&M. We had bought Lucy some chews and other bits and my Mother had bought Christmas cake, we were leaving the till area and this lady dropped her shopping trolley. We all looked at her and she was looking over at the floor near Simon. There was a two pound coin on the floor so we all assumed it was hers and Simon passed her it. She thanked him and we all walked off. It was only when we got to the Butcher’s around the corner that my Mum realised she was missing a £2 coin. She just hadn’t felt/heard it drop. So it seems that this nice old lady saw my Mum drop two quid and thought she would claim it for herself right in front of us. How dishonest is that? Surely anyone decent would have said something like “no, it’s yours I saw it drop” or something along those lines. Bad, bad, BAD old lady!
